PGY2 Oncology (New Program) Woodland Hills, California

The Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills Oncology Pharmacy program provides a 52 week (12-month) postgraduate year 2 curriculum offering comprehensive training in acute care, ambulatory care, outpatient pharmacy, drug information, and practice leadership.

This residency program offers an individualized training plan tailored to each resident’s interests, goals, and past experiences. Core rotations are required to build a robust knowledge base, with opportunities for elective rotations in various fields of interest.

The program also emphasizes hands-on experience, allowing residents to engage in direct patient care and collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Residents will participate in oncology clinics, chemotherapy infusion centers, and supportive care services. They will also gain experience in clinical trials and investigational drug services, enhancing their understanding of cutting-edge oncology treatments.

By the end of the program, residents will be well-prepared to take on advanced clinical roles in oncology pharmacy, equipped with the knowledge and skills to improve patient outcomes and contribute to the advancement of oncology care.

Pharmacy Services

Since 1986, Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills Medical Center has been committed to providing exceptional, patient-centered care to the communities of Woodland Hills and West Ventura. Our service area covers more than 270,000 members across 14 medical office buildings, including locations in Woodland Hills, Porter Ranch, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Oxnard, and Ventura. Adult oncology pharmacy services are available at both the Woodland Hills Medical Center and the Ventura Market Street Medical Office Building.

The Woodland Hills Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Services (CPS) include two sterile compounding infusion pharmacies and an Oral Chemotherapy Clinical Management program. Oncology CPS supports approximately 100 preparations per day (70 in Woodland Hills and 30 in Ventura), inpatient oncology, non-oncology clinics requiring hazardous compounds, oral cancer treatment, and supportive clinical pharmacy protocols such as epoetin and antiemetics. We are one of four Oral Chemotherapy Centers of Excellence (COE) hubs, serving not only Woodland Hills patients but also those from Downey, Kern County, Panorama City, Antelope Valley, and Santa Clarita. Currently, our oral chemotherapy pharmacist manages over 900 patients.

Our residency program offers a wide variety of clinical learning experiences in oncology and hematology, including rotations at the USC Norris Cancer Center for Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT). Residents gain exposure to complex cancer care, high-volume sterile compounding, and innovative oral chemotherapy management, while working alongside an experienced, collaborative team of pharmacists and healthcare providers.
