PGY2 Oncology (New Program) Los Angeles, California

Our Postgraduate Year 2 (PGY2) specialty residency program in oncology will give you a unique opportunity to expand your clinical knowledge in cancer care at our state-of-the art Cancer Center facility. Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center established the first comprehensive Cancer Center for the Kaiser Permanente Southern California Region in 2020. Our cancer center health care team collaborates to share the latest cancer research, clinical trials, treatments, and best practices for many oncology disorders in both the adult and pediatric population.

The PGY2 Oncology Residency program is designed to comprehensively prepare our residents for advanced practice and specialization in oncology. Our residents will gain experience and develop skills in a wide variety of disease states and patient populations through direct patient care experience in hematologic/oncologic disorders, supportive care management, and investigational trials.

Pharmacy Services

Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center is a tertiary care center and a referral site for the Southern California region. It is one of the largest Kaiser Permanente facilities in Southern California and the first to establish a state-of-the art Cancer Center facility. In addition, it is a teaching facility for medical residents, fellows, and PGY1 pharmacy residents. Our pharmacy team is well versed in training residents as the PGY1 pharmacy residency at Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles Medical Center has been in existence since 1977 and is the longest-standing residency in the Kaiser Permanente system. We are honored to now be able to offer a PGY2 program specializing in oncology services.

Our oncology pharmacy team is dedicated to ensuring that the pharmacy resident expands their clinical knowledge in cancer care with extensive training in numerous disease states including (but not limited to): adult and pediatric oncology and hematology, gynecology oncology, neuro-oncology, bone marrow transplant, investigational trials, and supportive care management such as anti-nausea management. It is also the site and Southern California regional hub for new gene therapy agents available to our members.

This is the first year for our PGY2 program and we are in pre-candidate status by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP).
