PGY1 Pharmacy Napa Solano, California
The Napa-Solano Service Area extends from Napa to Vacaville and consists of two medical centers (Vallejo and Vacaville) and two medical office buildings (Fairfield and Napa). Within these facilities we provide health care for nearly 310,000 members. The Kaiser Permanente Napa Solano Residency Program is a 52-week postgraduate program that provides training and experience in the provision of pharmaceutical care and pharmacy practice. The Kaiser Permanente, Napa-Solano Pharmacy Medical Care Residency Program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
Pharmacy Services
All our facilities have cardiovascular risk management (PHASE) pharmacists/Accountable Population Managers. We also have multidisciplinary Heart Failure, Chronic Pain Management, Oncology, Hospice Care Services, Psychiatry, Hypertension, Adult and Family Medicine clinics. In addition, we provide anticoagulation services to over 11,000 patients and utilize drug use management programs to promote cost-effective prescribing to maintain or improve quality of care.
There are five outpatient pharmacies in the Napa-Solano Area as well as a centralized filling pharmacy in Livermore. Our pharmacies provide comprehensive prescription dispensing and consultation services. We pride ourselves on efficient team-filling of prescriptions with optimal use of ancillary staff, such as technicians and clerks, to support our pharmacists.
Our inpatient pharmacy services provide de-centralized medication dispensing as well as automated dispensing machines on patient floors. Our electronic health records allow efficient provision of medications and patient monitoring for necessary clinical interventions. Our inpatient clinical pharmacists work within an interdisciplinary team and provide drug therapy recommendations, dosing adjustments per protocol, pharmacokinetic monitoring, and antibiotic monitoring. Clinical pharmacy services are provided in internal medicine, critical care, infectious diseases, and transitional care pharmacy.
